Is the Bowflex M8 Max Trainer Right For You?
The Bowflex Max Trainer M8 is a new premium Max Trainer model – replacing the older M7 Max Trainer.
The main upgrade to this trainer? The addition of Bowflex Max Intelligence.
This is a very cool new feature that lets you get customized workouts and dynamic coaching right from your trainer console.
You can also run famous world trails and watch scenery pass you by in your TV or tablet display.
The M8 also comes with a much larger, dual mode LCD display than other models – making your stats easier to read.
It also carries more resistance levels and extra-built-in workouts – giving you more room to grow with this trainer.

Bowflex M8 Max Trainer Review – Benefits:
The console on this trainer is larger and easier to read than the other two models. The enhanced display console also includes an “add time” button if you want to add more minutes to your workout already in progress.
There’s also an extra, premium media shelf you can use for your tablet or phone (you can also place your tablet down in front of the console as well).
You also get more built-in workouts than the other models to add more variety to your fitness routine.
Personalized Coaching with Max Intelligence
This is a new, optional, subscription-based feature that gives you a more personalized training experience. Max Intelligence will run a fitness assessment for you and then give you customized workouts based on your assessment and your stated fitness goals.
Max Intelligence will coach you through your workout and adjust the trainer settings to give you maximum calorie burning throughout your workout.
You can also choose from a library of personal-trainer-led workout videos if you want extra challenge.
And Bowflex is also adding world-scenery trails this year. So you can watch real life trails pass you by in your tablet or TV screen as you run for some virtual reality fun.
You don’t need to use the Bowflex Max Intelligence feature – the trainer works just fine without it (along with the 11 built-in workouts). However it’s a nice additional option if you want some added entertainment with your workouts!
4 Different User Profiles
The Bowflex M8 Max stores the information for up to 4 different people – making it a great option for families.
The user profiles are handy as you don’t have to re-enter your information every time you workout and it can give you more accurate feedback on your calories burned, etc.
The M8 also comes with higher-end moving arm bars which are a bit more padded and comfortable.
Plus they’re curved giving you a few extra places to place your hands to work your arms. This gives you a few more ways to train your arms and more optimal upper body training than the other models.
More Resistance Levels
If you’re already in great shape, you’ll probably want a machine where you don’t top out at the highest resistance level within your first 3 months.
You won’t do that with the M8 model. Compared to the M3 for example which gives you 8 resistance levels, the M8 gives you an impressive 20 resistance levels. So you’ve got a lot of room to grow here.
Bowflex M8 Max Trainer Review – What You Should Know:
Bowflex Max Intelligence
While the Max Intelligence feature is ultra-cool, you will need your own tablet if you want to use it.
Bowflex does offer the Performance pack option – which is basically the Bowflex M8 Max Trainer along with a Samsung Tablet, workout mat and wireless heart rate arm band monitor.
It’s about $300 more than the M8 on it’s own. So if you’re looking to pick up a tablet you can use for the Intelligence workouts, it might be worth considering.
No Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
While you do get hand grip EKG sensors to track your heart rate, you don’t get a wireless chest strap included with this trainer (unless you go with the Performance Pack listed above).
If you’re looking for the ultimate Bowflex Max Trainer, you can’t go wrong with the M8 model. It gives you all the bells and whistles including a heavier machine weight for added stability, more user profiles and more resistance levels.
It also has a larger, easier-to-read console and upgraded, premium arm grips for better upper body training.
Plus with the new Max Intelligence option you can get customized workouts, workout videos and world trails to add some fun and challenge to your workouts!
While it’s not the cheapest option in the Max Trainer lineup, if you want the ultimate in total body training, you’ll love this machine.
