Wondering about the Bowflex Max ceiling height requirements? You’re not alone.
One of the most common questions I hear from people on this blog is something like
“What kind of a ceiling height requirement do I need for the Bowflex M6?” or
“I have a lower 7 foot ceiling – can I fit the Bowflex Max in there?”
It’s a great question.
While the Max trainer has a compact footprint, you also want to make sure it will fit well with your ceiling height.
There’s no point feeling like your head is going to hit the ceiling as you pedal.
So I did some research and poked around and found out the answer direct from the Manufacturer.
I’ve listed what I’ve been told below to help you figure it out for your specific situation along with some examples so you can see the numbers for yourself.
Note however that I do not work for Bowflex.
So if you’re going to buy a Bowflex Max Trainer anywhere, be sure that you know all the details on the machine you’re buying from the official Manufacturer’s site here.
Question: How Much Ceiling Height Do I Need for the Bowflex Max Trainer?
Ok, here it is folks – straight from the manufacturers site:
You need 15 Inches above your tallest users’ height
This applies to ANY of the current Bowflex Max Trainers – the M3, M6 or M8 models. You need to take your height – or the height of the tallest user in your home – and add on an extra 15 inches.
Then compare this to the ceiling height of the area where you would like to place your machine to see if it will fit.
Fifteen inches converts to 1.25 feet. So let’s do the math.
If you’re 6 feet tall, you’ll need to add another 1.25 feet onto your height: 6 + 1.25 = 7.25 feet. So you need a ceiling height of at least 7.25 feet. You may want to go with 7.3 or 7.4 feet just to be even safer.
If you’re 5 foot 5 inches that’s a bit trickier. We have to convert that to feet first.
Five inches is about 0.42 feet. So technically someone who is 5 foot 5 inches is 5.42 feet tall.
Now add on another 1.25 feet to that: 5.42 + 1.25 = 6.67 feet.
So you’ll need a ceiling height of 6.67 feet. You could easily get away with a lower 7 foot ceiling in this case.
Here are some more calculations for you:
Someone who is 5 foot 7 inches needs a ceiling height of 5.58 + 1.25 = 6.83 feet
Someone who is 5 foot 9 inches needs a ceiling height of 5.75 + 1.25 = 7 feet
Someone who is 5 foot 11 inches needs a ceiling height of 5.92 + 1.25 = 7.17 feet
Someone who is 6 foot 2 inches needs a ceiling height of 6.17 + 1.25 = 7.42 feet
So I hope that clears things up on the questions about Bowflex Max ceiling height requirements. Again, remember that this applies to all the current Max Trainer models – the M3, M6 and M8.
